About

What is Creative Health?

Creative health is a growing social movement made-up of people who believe that taking part in art, culture and other creative activities is good for our health and should be widely available wherever and whoever you are.

What are Creative Health Boards?

Our project is part of the social movement around creative health. We are striving to make creative health a central part of the healthcare system by developing and testing a new model called the Creative Health Board.

Creative Health Boards provide a vital link between community assets – local charities, community groups, museums, theatres and independent practitioners – and local healthcare systems to develop ways to ensure that creative is widely available, including for people and communities with the highest risk of poor health.

What is the Creative Health Board Hub?

The Creative Health Boards Hub is your one stop shop for learning about the key elements of a successful Creative Health Board. It aims to provide a showcase for collaborative research led by and for community assets and people with lived experience involved in Creative Health.

Throughout our project we will use this website to share evidence that demonstrates how creative health can be made more sustainable and accessible for people most at risk of poor health. If you want to set-up your own Creative Health Board, or have already started and have learning to share, we’d love to hear from you at chb@shu.ac.uk.

The project will be delivered by a team of leading community assets, academics, and representatives of health and care services.
